Anti-Submarine
ATDS is a second generation torpedo defense suite for surface ships. The system utilizes the "Layer Defense Principle" in which the responsibility of the attacking torpedo is moved from one layer to another, wasting the torpedo's energy until "End Of Run" (EOR). The system is designed to cope with modern torpedoes which are fitted with Acoustic Counter-Counter-Measures (ACCM). The ATDS comprises several units which act as three basic defense layers:

  • TDTA - A mini towed array sonar designed to detect and classify attacking torpedoes.
  • ATC-2 - A software controlled sophisticated towed decoy, which has the unique capability of localizing the torpedo at CPA.
  • SCUTTER / LESCUT - A reactive decoy that is designed to seduce the attacking torpedo by means of a tailored response.
  • Launchers - For launching SCUTTERs / LESCUTs to different ranges from over the side up to 2 km.
  • Command and control unit - The unit for managing and timing the decoy launching as well as the ship's maneuvers.
