Rafael develops, designs, manufactures, provides and installs add-on reactive and passive armor kits for a wide variety of vehicles including MBTs, APCs and light vehicles. The ASPRO-P (passive armor) provides enhanced protection against projectiles and artillery fragments, while the reactive armor provides protection against anti-tank shaped charge warheads. Rafael's ASPRO-R (reactive armor) on the US Bradley fighting vehices plays a central role in protecting US soldiers in Iraq. The ASPRO-H (hybrid) version of this armor system has been adapted to light armored wheeled and tracked vehicles, including M113 APC, LAV III, Stryker, CV90 and the FV432. This system is modular and combines reactive and passive elements to defeat both advanced SC threats and KE projectiles and high speed 155 mm artillery fragments.
Rafael has also developed a line of multi-purpose Light Armored Vehicles (LAV), such as the Golan and Wolf, which provide outstanding protection for troops on the move.
